Theist to atheist: "If materialism is true, then your visible friends are unreal as well."
In other words, those who reject theism on the basis of materialism can do so only by relying upon reductionist asssumptions. They thus end up denying that we have an enduring identity. For if a whole is nothing but the sum of its parts and the parts are always changing, then amongst those changes can be found nothing that endures.
